FFA State Convention

From April 7-10th Twenty-five Centennial FFA Members competed and attended the Nebraska State FFA Convention in Lincoln. Over 3,000 members from across the state also attended and showcased their talents in leadership and career development events. Many sessions, competitions, booths, and workshops took place at the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel and Pershing Event Center. A good deal of work over days, weeks, and years culminated in numerous awards for individuals and our chapter as a whole. We were named a Top Thirteen Premier Chapter in the state due to our activities throughout the year. Braylon Gierhan displayed his adept knowledge in agricultural machinery by placing third in the state in Ag Mechanics and receiving a purple ribbon, certainly no small feat. Sid Kment received a silver medal for his skills in Job Interview. The Meats Judging team placed fourteenth in the state and received a blue ribbon. Composing the team was Jessica Tonniges (blue), Angela Naber (blue), Kyle Sheehan (white), and Kayla Crowder. In oxy acetylene welding, Eric Naber received a blue ribbon for his ability. Elizabeth Cast received a red ribbon in the Agriscience

competition for her knowledge. The Soil Moisture Testing Ag Demonstration team of Braylon, Ethan, and Logan received a bronze level plaque. In Junior Public Speaking, Katie Stuhr received a silver medal and in Senior Public Speaking, John Bader received a gold medal. John Bader was also selected as a State Vice-President and will serve the Nebraska FFA over the coming year. Also, Jordan Ortmeier, Braylon Gierhan, and Sid Kment received there State FFA Degree, the highest level of membership at the state level. The Centennial FFA was content with their continued level of success. Mr. Anderson, chapter advisor, remarked, “It was a very good first convention for me as the Centennial FFA advisor. There were numerous high accomplishments by members with the highlight being John Paul Bader being selected as State Vice-President.”
