Junior High Hoops for Heart Event

A Great Success!

The 7^th and 8^th grade boys and girls PE/Health classes participated in the American Heart Association’s Hoops for Heart fund raiser this year and gathered $1638.00! These students show great leadership and community spirit in obtaining these donations for this national organization that, in turn, provides educational and medical services for all community needs within the state of Nebraska. Not only did the kids do a fine job raising the funds, they will also compete in a shoot-out during their PE classes with Mr. Lanik and Mrs. Heser. The top leaders in total donations were: 8^th graders - Elizabeth Cast, Audrey Dreifurst, and 7^th graders - Wyatt Hettle and Krayton Conell that raised nearly half the total donations. One reward for their work is that the PE department will received $100.00 worth of new equipment for the junior high and they also earned their own individual prizes provided by the American Heart Association.

The Centennial Junior High would like to thank everyone who donated to this honorable cause. We also would like to especially thank Mr. DeWaard for being our guest for lunch and the North Subway of York Manager, Melody Herring for her AWESOME sandwich party that SUBWAY provided for the 8^th grade class on being the top fund raisers. It was delicious and very appreciated. Hopefully, this will be an annual fund raiser and community service project for the junior high from Centennial. Again, thank you to all who made this possible for our students and the American Heart Association!
