FFA Members Compete at District Leadership Skill Events
Centennial FFA: Success for Life

On December 3rd, 2008, thirty-one Centennial FFA members competed in District Leadership Skill Events hosted by Seward High School. Weeks of preparation and intense work went into nine different leadership skill events. The results were excellent for our chapter.
In Creed Speaking, Kendall Gierhan was District Champ, with Logan Kment receiving third and alternate to state. In Junior Public Speaking, Rachel Rathjen and Katie Stuhr both received superior ratings. In Senior Public Speaking, Melissa Winkelmann took third place and alternate to state; Cassidy Leif received a superior rating. In Natural Resources Speaking, John Bader was District Champ with Brittany Leif receiving a superior rating. In Job Interview, Sid Kment took home the district plaque, with Shelby Leuttel receiving Runner-up. Kelly Naber was given a superior rating for her Extemporaneous Speech. In Agricultural Demonstration, The DNA Extraction Team, consisting of Penny Blum, Melissa Sackschewsky, and Emily Koski were state qualifiers, receiving District Runner-up. The Goat Parasite Treatment Team received a superior rating. Sid Kment, Melissa Winkelmann, John Bader, and Braylon Gierhan made up this team. Both Junior Parliamentary Procedure Teams received Superior Ratings. Team #1 comprised of Cassidy Leif, Dawn Sayer, Tiffany Heine, Ethan Heser, Shaey Kratochvil, Kayla Crowder, and Lacey Naber. Team #2 consisted of Kate Stuhr, Connor Wiese, Keaton Kucera, Jonah Foxvog, Josh Mooney, Eric Weimer, and Rachel Rathjen. The Senior Parliamentary Procedure Team consisted of Tom Bader, Brittany Leif, Kelly Naber, Lindsey Kessler, Jherika Russell, and Travis Arnold. They received a Superior rating.
Kendall Gierhan, John Bader, Shelby Leuttel, Sid Kment, Penny Blum, Melissa Sackschewsky, and Emily Koski qualified for state due to their excellence in leadership. They will all be proudly representing the Centennial FFA at the Nebraska State FFA Convention held April 1st-3rd, 2009.
Also in FFA news, The Centennial Chapter was recognized at the Commissioner of Education’s Excellence Awards presentation on November 24th. Sid Kment, Melissa Winkelmann, and Brittany Leif accepted the award.
