May 02, 2008

Sam Wilton, an eighth grade student at Centennial participated in the State Geography Bee on April 4th in Omaha.  This contest is part of National Geographic Society’s National Geography Bee program, a contest designed for students in grades 4-8.

Upon completion of the classroom, grade level, and the school bee, Sam completed a test to determine if he was one of the top 100 finalists in Nebraska. He advanced to the State Bee, which is held annually at the University of Nebraska – Omaha campus.

The National Geography Bee program is sponsored annually by the National Geographic Society to increase an interest and awareness in geography and geographic education. State winners, from across the country, advance to the National Geography Bee in Washington D.C. in May.
