Bronco Boys and Girls finish 3rd in Malcolm Holiday Tournament!

January 04, 2008

The Lady Bronco's got off to a rough start to the tournament in their first game.  Malcolm defeated the Lady Bronco's sending us to the 3rd Place game.  The Lady Bronco's would respond.  Behind the leadership of Danielle Mooney and Beth Erks, the Lady Bronco's beat High Plains.  Mooney and Erks each scored 12 points for the Lady Bronco's.  The Lady Bronco's played with intensity and heart, and the outcome showed on the floor, the final score being 50-24.

The Bronco's came off a double overtime heartbreaker on Friday night against a Malcolm team to end up in the consolation game.  On Friday night, Nathan Foley led all scorers with 27 points with Jamorio Philyaw followed with 19 points.  It was a total team effort, that had 4 players fouling out and Coach Huisman looking at a depleted Bronco bench.

The Bronco's then had to get their legs back to take on Tri-County, a team they had previously lost a heartbreaker too.  The Bronco's jumped out to a 10 point lead and never looked back.  The boys are playing with heart and desire and it paid off by winning their first game of the season.  The Bronco's have come together despite injuries and looking to continue their winning ways.

Both teams travel to Sutton to take on the Mustangs and Fillies tonight, JV begins at 4:30 and girls varsity at 6:15 followed by the boys at 8:00.  Come out and support your Broncos!
