Lady Bronco Softball Starts Another Season!

The Centennial team returns to the diamond ready for another fast and furious season of ball that hopefully ends in Hastings. The Broncos return a few familiar faces to the starting line-up this year, as well as some promising newcomers. The entire pitching staff from last season is back. Three of the five all conference players from last year's starters will return as well. The Broncos return five of last years starters. Most of last year's starters will move into new positions this year, and some newcomers will have to play some key roles as well. Some strengths are our pitching staff and defense. A weakness that needs to be improved is hitting. The team has looked good in the preseason, and if the hitting improves from a year ago, we should have a pretty good season.

The 2007 Centennial softball season will start on August 23 at Columbus Lakeview, the defending Class C state champion. We will play tournaments in Seward, Fairbury, Hastings, and Crete. This year's conference tournament will be held at Centennial. Districts will be held in Central City. Our goals are to win conference and districts. The Lady Broncos play one of the toughest schedules in class C. Two-thirds of our opponents are against class B teams. It is a challenging schedule, but there is no better way to get prepared for tough competition at disricts. It should be a fun and exciting season. We hope that you all can come out and support your Lady Broncos!
